Working Together...going the Extra Mile in Recovery!

 

The Extra Mile is a LONG TERM clean/sober RESIDENCE program. All clients contractually agree to reside at Extra Mile and fully participate in the program offered for NO LESS THAN 6 MONTHS, and can choose to reside on campus and continue to participate in the program for up to 2 years! There are 3 Phases to the EXTRA MILE Program:

 

Phase I: (The first 30 days) Client remains on campus to acclimate to their new environment, attend daily recovery support group meetings, obtains AA / NA sponsor, participates in all program offerings, continue their 12-step work, and search for employment.

 

Phase II: (2nd month thru 6th month) Client has obtained employment, continues to work on 12-step work, can choose to lead meetings, can choose to mentor/sponsor newcomers, can agree to take on leadership roles as needed, formulates short and long term goals.

 

Phase III: (7th month to 18th month) Client has maintained employment, mentors newcomers, formulates and implements own plan of action for the future


PROGRAM COMPONENTS:

  • AA, NA, Al-anon, NAR-anon support group meeting participation
    (available daily on campus and off campus)
  • Continuing recovery support education workshops each week
    (with a wide variety of topics and guest speakers)
  • Financial recovery and budgeting classes each week.
  • Spiritual growth workshops 1 time per week compliments of area churches
    (from a variety of denominations)
  • Exercise and wellness plans for each resident.
    (healing and growing mentally, physicaly, and spiritually)
  • House meetings 1 time per week for accountability, problem-solving, organizing volunteer service projects to give back to the community, and to practice service above self!
  • Transportation assistance as needed
    (*can bring your own vehicle)
  • Employment search assistance

  • Higher education assistance
    (help applying for PELL grants for admission to area colleges)
  • Certified, professional staff and administration
  • Regular, random drug-testing
