Working Together...going the Extra Mile in Recovery!

 

The Extra Mile is a LONG TERM clean/sober RESIDENCE program. All clients contractually agree to reside at Extra Mile and fully participate in the program offered for NO LESS THAN 6 MONTHS, and can choose to reside on campus and continue to participate in the program for up to 2 years! There are 3 Phases to the EXTRA MILE Program:

 

Phase I: (The first 30 days)

Client remains on campus to acclimate to their new environment, attends 4 to 5 AA/NA recovery support group meetings a week, obtains an AA/NA sponsor and continues 12-step work, participates in group and individual therapy, seaches for employment and/or applies for grants for college if interested.

 

Phase II: 2nd month thru 5th month)

Client has obtained employment and/or entered college, continues to work with sponsor on 12-steps, participates in all Extra Mile program components, may mentor newcomers, fomulates short and long term goals with counselors' assistance.

 

Phase III: (6th month on...)

Client has maintained employment, may mentor newcomers, begins to implement own plans to meet personal goals for his future while gaining experience and confidence in maintaining a recovery lifestyle.

 

PROGRAM COMPONENTS:

  • AA/NA recovery support group meeting attendance (*Meetings available on campus and off campus)
  • Recovery support education, 12-step studies, anger management, relapse prevention classes
  • Guest Speakers on a wide variety of topics such as; Financial Recovery, Spirituality, Co-Dependency, Dating in Recovery, etc. (*As available)
  • Individualized health and wellness plan counseling (healing mind,body & spirit)
  • House meetings (1X/wk) for accountability, announcements, problem solving, organizing campus and community projects
  • Transportation assistance as needed for work, meeting and church attendance
  • Employment Search Assistance, Grant application for school assistance (*Computers available in club house)
  • Mandatory church attendance on Sunday mornings. (*Church of client's choice)
  • Regular, random drug and breath alcohol testing
  • Certified, professional staff and administration. (*All staff members have many years in recovery.)
